The New Year is here! At the Czech Center Museum Houston, we are ready to announce some fantastic things happening in 2015.
From January 26 through April 25, 2015, CCMH will host the travelling exhibit Texas Czechs: Rooted in Tradition.
Presented with PolkaWorks, a non-profit organization whose mission is to highlight cultural traditions through multimedia projects designed to educate and inspire, the exhibition demonstrates how Czech culture has played an instrumental role in shaping the iconic Texas landscape. Czech immigrants brought with them dance, food, music, language and other cultural traditions, and the Texas Czech community maintains and passes on its sense of identity by continuing to practice those traditions and by creating some particular to Texas Czechs. This exhibit uses photos, text and short films to speak to a wide audience about the sights, sounds, tastes, language and history of a rich culture that has united Texas communities for generations.
If you or someone you know would like to help sponsor this event, you can call us at 713-528-2060 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more. We’re offering benefit levels to sponsors starting at $100, so please consider getting involved with this worthy cause!
And save the date for March 19, 2015 at 7pm, when the Yale Slavic Chorus comes to CCMH!
CCMH is thrilled to announce this upcoming performance by the Yale Slavic Chorus, Yale’s oldest all-women’s vocal ensemble, as part of the group’s Houston tour. Tickets are $10 each. We are also currently looking for underwriters and donations of any amount to go toward this event – a great way to show your support of Slavic culture and future performances by travelling/musical groups at the Czech Center Museum Houston!
Stay tuned for more events in 2015, and remember that our building is also available to rent for private parties. For information on events, rentals and other museum inquiries, please call 713-528-2060.
